The Black Experience

The Color of Politics

The black experience is a magical one, descending from past warriors and royalty, and filled with magic, beauty, color, song, and dance.

The black experience is also an exhausting one, filled with constant struggle for our dignity and humanity.

Black consciousness means being in a constant state of rage. From witnessing our black brothers being murdered daily to witnessing our African brothers and sisters drowning in the ocean just like their ancestors. Escaping a home and continent that has been looted, plundered, and desecrated by the white colonialists who invaded our sanctuary.

Without a break we are forever in a constant state of mourning. We mourn our brothers and sisters, our hopes and dreams, our heroes and legends, and our homeland as we try to achieve respect and humanity.

We navigate the world with poise and grace determined to live a life of joyful defiance. But we are also tired. Tired of being ignored, tired of being unseen, tired of begging for equality. In the words of N.W.A F*** the police and any white person who refuses to see and acknowledge our humanity.
